Regional training events on building the capacity of local media officers and journalists have been organized
A regional training event named “Journalism and Human rights” has been organized in cooperation with the National Human Rights Commission in Chinggis, Batnorov, Norovlin soums of Khentii aimag and Mandal soum of Selenge aimag.
In total 43 journalists and members of the Human Rights Journalist’s Club attended the regional training from 10 different aimags, such as Uvs, Khovd, Bayan-Ulgii, Govi-Altai, Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, Bulgan, Darkhan-Uul, Selenge, Dornogovi, Dundgovi, Umnugovi, Khentii and Tuv aimag. As part of the training the attendees visited mine sites in Khentii and Selenge aimags and had the chance to make reports on the organized and formalized artisanal mining sites and their best practices.
The training was conducted by the representatives from the National Human Rights Commission and Sustainable Artisanal Mining Project and the local officers, who delivered sessions on topics, such as “Knowledge of human rights violence”, “Human rights-based approach”, “The right for freedom of speech and Media”, “Mining and human rights”, “SAM project activities”etc.
